L’Amour in La Push, in pacific ocean engagement session
Not even a strong undertow could sink the love of Amy and Charles during their engagement session in the pounding waves of the Pacific Ocean at La Push, Washington.
After moving from Ottawa to Vancouver to pursue careers aspirations, Amy and Charles made the best out of a Thanksgiving weekend with friends in Washington to have an impromptu session during a surfing day trip.
Through 12-foot swells and thick sea foam, Amy and Charles battled the elements to create some stunning images.
I couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop – it was like a painting from the Group of Seven.
Twisted and weather-worn trees from old-growth forests washed ashore looked like wooden sculptures created by the nature gods.
Salty Sea spray swirled in the air.
I remember taking the above the picture and feeling the rush of water pull hard at my legs. I had to stand with my legs braced against the direction of the current to keep from getting sucked down WITH my camera.
Oh, and because the idea to go into the water was last-minute and I didn’t have a wet suit, I was just in my underwear.
This shoot really highlights the importance of a great location where the couple can get lost in their own world and I can get along with my thing of making images.
